Temper tantrums mean that your kid could be successful one day, says study

We all know the Terrible Two's better than we would like to.

We all know the embarrassment of our toddler or throwing a tantrum at a family party screaming on a supermarket floor or in front of strangers.

But parents, there is good news.

According to a study, tantrums are a good thing – and even signify future success in your kids' life.

The study, published in Developmental Psychology, came upon a link between kids who were prone to bad behaviour when they were young and success in their later years.

Kids at the age of 12, and then again at age 52 were looked at and for the 12-year-olds, things like socioeconomic status, intelligence, and behaviours such as school entitlement, inattentiveness, pessimism, rule-breaking were taken into account.

Then at 52-years-old, researchers looked at their occupational success and income.

It was revealed that kids who were more defiant more often were more likely to do better in school and go on to earn a higher income as an adult.

So, bad behaviour equals a better adult life.

According to Dr. Harvey Karp, toddler tantrums are a child's way of expressing their frustration as they things develop language and problem-solving skills.

The best thing to do is to remain calm and repeat your child's request to show that your listening – it'll help calm your little one down.

So maybe a bad temper isn't so bad after all.
