'Surreal': Woman who nursed infant back to health is shocked to discover who he is now

Working as a nurse is not an easy job but it can be truly rewarding in so many ways.

And nurse Vilma Wong got a pleasant surprise when she found out who her new co-worker was.

To set the scene; Vilma, who has been nursing for 32 years, met her newest colleague at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Meredith, California.

He was called Brandon Seminatore and he was a second-year pediatric resident who is training to become a child neurologist.

Brandon was only 28 years old, however, Vilma had a feeling that she had met him somewhere before.

Then, she heard his name and it all slotted into place.

Vilma explained that “Brandon was on my team and taking care of one of my patients. I asked who he was and his last name sounded very familiar,”

“I kept asking questions, like where he was from and he told me he was from San Jose, and that as a matter of fact, he was born at our hospital.”

She continued, “I remember being the primary nurse to a baby with the same last name. To confirm my suspicion, I asked him if his dad was a police officer. And there was a big silence. Then he asked me if I was Vilma. I said yes!”

It turned out that Brandon was the baby that Vilma had cared for almost 30 years ago when he was born prematurely.

Brandon's parents were so delighted to meet Vilma again after she had saved their son's life back in 1990.

His parents dug up an old photo of the pair together, with Brandon sitting on Vilma's lap as a newborn.

“Meeting Vilma was a surreal experience. When she recognized my name, it truly sunk in that I was one of these babies. I’ve come full circle and I’m taking care of babies with the nurse that took care of me,'' said Brandon.

What a happy reunion and a heartwarming story!
