Mum's Life

Sick of that to-do list? Mum's 'ta-da' list is the life upgrade we all needed

Mum-of-three Daniela Minns knows all about the hustle and bustle of family life.

Drop off the kids, pick up the kids, cook clean, change nappies, provide cuddles, go to work. When your days are constantly on the go, the items on your 'to-do' list can slip further and further down.

So instead of the dreaded to do list- Minns has a far better idea- a 'ta-da' list.

Instead of having an overwhelming list of things to do, Minns writes a list of all the things that she has done that day.

“The idea is particularly useful for mums with little kids who often get to the end of a day and feel like – what on earth did I achieve today?” the 38-year-old explained while speaking to Kidspot.

“It’s a way to stop, take note and realise just how much you do achieve rather than focusing on what you didn't.

“I used it when I had babies and toddlers and I felt a bit overwhelmed or defeated by how little it seemed I got done in a day.

“Once I actually listed those things down – all those little things like, ‘unpacked the dishwasher, bought bread and milk, put the baby down for a nap…’ I realised how much I really was getting done every day.”

When dealing with three kids under the age of three, the lists helped Minns refocus her days in a more positive way. The 'ta-da' list helps her celebrate even the smallest of wins.

“Honestly, some days you just have to give yourself a pat on the back,” she said.

“Parents of little kids have to do so many things every day just to keep their little people alive!

“I sometimes joked when my kids were super small when my husband would come home from work and ask me what I did that day – oh you know, just keeping small humans alive,” she joked.

What do you think mums? Will the 'ta-da' list be a feature in your life?
