Married mum's message to single mothers will pull on your heartstrings

Whether you have one kid or five, motherhood is tough. Emotionally, mentally and physically tough.

You have to be a mum, a chef, a carer, a taxi driver, a nurse, a teacher and a cleaner and that’s just in one day.

Now imagine doing everything – literally everything – without any help from a partner or the kids’ dad. All the decisions, the responsibility is on you.

The reality of many single mums around the world.

But these women are amazing – I have one kid and a very hands-on partner, and I’m exhausted by the end of the day.

At least I know that if I needed a break I would be able to get it.

But it’s harder for single mums, who don’t have that extra pair of hands to help out – yet they manage to do all of the above as both Mum and Dad.

And Jennifer Weedon Palazzo thinks it’s about time single mums got the praise they deserve.

The vlogger from Mom Cave TV shared an ode to single mums everywhere on Facebook recently, and it really nails how hard it can be.

“This is a message to all the single mums out there," the mum explains as she sits in the car while her baby sleeps.

"Holy shit you are doing an amazing job. How do I know that?

"Well, you are single, you have one child or more and they are still alive.

"So you are doing an amazing job."

Continuing, Jennifer explains that while she is not a single mum her husband travels a lot for work, and it can be tough doing it all on her own.

"When he’s gone all the time it’s hard. It’s hard because I’m the only one," the vlogger explains.

"I know that I’m lucky because when I’m home amidst all the chaos there is somebody else out there who is working hard supporting us.

"Who is there emotionally as a partner, as an equal responsible party in this whole parenting thing."

Recognising just how amazing single mums are, Jennifer says that anytime they need help she is there for them.

“This is really hard,” the mum explains.

“I don’t know how you’re doing it. I’m barely doing it.

"If there is any way that I can help, even though I’m a mess myself, come over — be a mess with me.

"If you need me to hold your baby so you can take a sh*t, so be it.”

It is clear that Jennifer is truly moved by single mums and all the work they do – and listening to her, it's hard not to well up.
