Single mum meets her daughter for the first time, and it’s simply beautiful

Liz Larson has wanted to be a mum since she was a little girl herself, and has wanted to adopt a child for a long time.

Growing up, Liz assumed that she would have biological kids of her own and adopt sometime in the future.

However, as most of us know, life very rarely goes according to plan, and she soon realised that "bio kids" were not in her future – but adoption was.

So she bought a house near a good school and church.

Suddenly however, "the door was shut" and she found herself having more work to do and "didn’t even want to adopt for a while.”

Liz took some time out to work on herself and be better equipped to become a mum.

And in 2015, feeling she was ready, got in touch with a number of agencies – and so began her journey to adopting Ellia.

"Ellia means God has answered in Hebrew," Liz explained in an emotional interview.

"Even though her story is hard He is in it and that is something that has been important to me and my story."

In the video below, we, the audience, are allowed a glimpse into Liz's journey to collect Ellia, highlighting all the hopes and fears that are associated with adoption.

Liz was nervous meeting Ellia for the first time, something she honestly talks about in the interview.

However, it was Ellia that she was worried about, explaining: "This part is going to be worst for her and she won't understand but I wish that she could know that I am on her team. From the beginning."

"That. And she is so wanted."

Meeting Ellia in the corridor of the agency, Liz waves hello to her daughter who is standing waiting for her – and so their new life together begins.

Truly beautiful.
