Guy invites sick neighbour to live in his home - and we're BAWLING

By inviting his sick, elderly neighbour to live out her final days with him, Chris Salvatore has restored our faith in humanity. 

31-year-old Chris first met Norma Cooke, 89, four years ago when he moved into the apartment across the hall from her's. 

 

Norma has been all smiles for the last few days after seeing herself on the TV. I read all of your messages from around the globe to her and she cries every time she hears the kind words from all of you. We just want to both say thank you for all of the love and support. It keeps Norma healthy and definitely keeps my energy up to be able to care for all her needs. THANK YOU from the bottom of our very full hearts today!  #myneighbornorma

The pair quickly formed a bond, and he found out she was suffering from a long list of health complications, including leukaemia.

"I would help her cook meals, drive her to the doctors, banks, pharmacies and even just recently I got the amazing experience to accompany her to vote," he wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for her medical expenses.

Sadly, over the last eight months, Norma's health has declined, and she has been in and out of hospital a lot.

As she has no family in the state and very little money, Chris, who is an actor, has decided to do whatever he can to help. 

In fact, the pair quickly realised that they could save a lot of money if Norma moved in with Chris, so she did. 

"To prolong the remaining funds to prevent her from having to be moved into a county facility, Norma and I have decided to move her into my apartment across the hall where she now has her own beautiful room and bathroom!" he explained.

"I do most of my work at home so I am here most of the time to care for her so it only made sense to the both of us."

Norma's last wish is to be at home with her cat Hermes as she transitions into the next life, and with the help of Chris it looks like she'll able to enjoy what little time she has left. 

"She is my adopted grandmother after all and I am her grandson she never had."

At the moment any funds raised are being used to pay for home care for Norma and her medical bills.
