'Good people do still exist': Secret Santa saves Christmas for single mum

Mum-of-four and waitress Trisha Murphy, was having a tough time in the lead up to Christmas.

The single mum had not done most of her Christmas shopping yet, and to make matters worse her car had to be towed, with a hefty bill involved.

She was struggling to think of how to pull Christmas off, she tried getting extra shifts in work, but unfortunately the restaurant wasn't busy enough.

She served a table of three men, what happened next blew her away.

"I got this table, 3 men." Murphy wrote. "They all looked a little grungy and judging by their demeanour, I figured an average tip."

The oldest of the three men tried to talk to her about Christmas:

"I just told him I'm in it for my kids, but besides that, I don't really get into it all that much. He joked that he'd come be Santa."

Murphy remained polite, yet distant, not wanting to get too personal with the strangers. When the bill arrived, the man insisted that he pay Murphy directly:

"I thought it a little odd, but obliged anyway. When he put his card in, he had a huge, ear to ear, smile. The receipt printed and I almost collapsed! I looked up at this grungy looking man, my face as white as snow, and tears in my eyes.

He just smiled again and said "Merry Christmas, dear", and almost danced out of the restaurant."

The kind stranger saved Christmas for Murphy's family:

I don't know this man's name, but I hope he realises that he literally saved Christmas for my children and I!

Good people do still exist. Yesterday was the day I met Santa!"

A true Christmas miracle!
