Baby

Daughter interrupts her father's work meeting... and when he realises why he can't stop crying

His face is priceless.

After you give birth, the first people you generally want to tell are your own parents.

But what if your mum and dad lived thousands of miles away? And wouldn’t get to see your baby before they grew up and left the infant years behind?

Well, that is exactly what happened to blogger Emi, whose parents have been stationed in South Africa for three years.

The Well Travelled Wife had already surprised her mum, but really wanted her dad to see her son, Reagan, before he grew up – and endured over 30 hours of solo travelling to make sure he did.

“I wanted him to meet my baby so badly! He is serving as a mission president which is the only reason in the world he hadn’t met her in person yet,” she wrote on her blog.

“He had no option to come to us, so — we came to him! He just didn’t know it beforehand.”

In a video uploaded to YouTube, you can see Emi knocking on a door with Reagan in her arms.

She then enters an office filled with four people, one of whom is her own dad.

Clearly surprised by what is unfolding in front of him, the man puts his hands up to his face as he is overcome with emotion.

“We were both unspeakably tired but we drove straight to the mission offices and just decided to surprise him right then and there before we really crashed from jet lag,” the mum explained.

“We asked his AP missionaries to pull him into a meeting to distract him, and a few minutes later I knocked on the door holding baby Reagan and walked in. His reaction was so sweet and tender and something I’ll remember forever.

The grandfather’s face is of pure shock and joy; what a lovely video to cherish forever.
