Yoto's Biggest Ever Update Is Here and Parents Will Love It
If you’ve ever stood in the kitchen at 7am, bleary-eyed, trying to locate the right Yoto Card while your child melts down because they can’t find the one with the dinosaurs on it — this update is going to feel like a small miracle.
Yoto has just launched its biggest hardware update ever, introducing the Yoto Player 4th Gen and Yoto Mini 4th Gen. Both are available to pre-order right now, with the Mini shipping from 30 September and the Player from 15 October.
The Green Button changes everything
The headline feature of both new players is the Green Button — a dedicated shortcut that gives kids instant, cardless access to up to 20 of their favourite audio titles. Once a grown-up sets it up in the free Yoto App, children can twist, press and play without needing to root around for a physical card.
You can build bespoke playlists for morning and bedtime. A morning playlist might pull together the Yoto Daily podcast, a toothbrush timer and something educational. A bedtime one could queue up lullabies, white noise or a gentle story. It works with physical cards you already own, digital-only cards and free content from the Yoto library — so there’s plenty to play with from the start.
To get families going, the Yoto Player 4th Gen comes with a free 5 Minute Stories From Around the World digital card included, and the Yoto Mini 4th Gen comes with a free Journey Jams digital card. Both players also include a free Make Your Own Card and stickers in the box.
Yoto CEO and co-founder Ben Drury put it well: “We’ve always wanted Yoto to get better with time. We listen to families, we watch how kids use Yoto, and we ask ourselves what could make the experience more joyful, useful and independent. That’s what led us to 4th Gen.”
New night light, tougher build and serious storage
The Yoto Player 4th Gen has a brand new full-panel night light with seven colour options, which can be set to create a calming bedtime environment or act as an OK-to-Wake cue in the morning. Future software updates will add dynamic lighting that responds to whatever your child is listening to, which sounds genuinely lovely for a bedtime story.
Both players have been upgraded with a faster processor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.1 and 64GB of storage — enough for over 1,000 hours of audio. The Yoto Mini 4th Gen is now IP67-rated, meaning it’s splash- and dust-resistant and built to survive the kind of adventures small children tend to have. The accessories have had an update too, with new Adventure Jackets in four new colourways and a refreshed Travel Case that fits both generations of Yoto Mini.
