Wow! Mum gives birth to record-breaking twins

A mum has recently given birth to a pair of record-breaking twins, believed to be the heaviest ever born in Scotland.

Alanna Merrie, from Edinburgh, gave birth to a set of twin boys with a combined weight of 17 pounds, the weight of an average six-month old.

Twins Troy and Kaius, were born by c-section at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, reports the Mail Online, astonishing midwives at the hospital.

Alanna’s bump was huge during the pregnancy, so she had an idea that they would be large babies – she didn’t realise just how big.

“The scans said they were good sizes and the midwives told me they were growing well,” she told the Mail Online. “You just don't expect it though.”
