'Who ARE you?': Woman who can’t afford her groceries is stunned when a famous face picks up the tab

Therra Gwyn-Jaramillo has had a tough few years yet a simple act has completely restored her faith in humanity.

Therra, who is from Georgia in the US, has had to suffer the loss of her husband in 2014 to brain cancer and support herself financially as a result.

However, it was last week that everything came to a head for her when she had to fork out $4,000 for a home repair job plus she didn't get properly paid for her work as a freelance writer.

“I was too embarrassed to say out loud I was having financial difficulty, but it was a solid problem. I was making rice for me and the dogs to eat. I was losing sleep. I was crying daily. I rationed gas in my car,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

She got a $250 Whole Foods gift card as a gift from a from a friend, who had seen that she was in a bad place.

When she was shopping at the Whole Foods, she realised that she had accidentally gotten her groceries mixed up with the man's one's in front of her.

She explained what happened in a tweet: ''l said, "Oh no, sorry, that's mine. So sorry." "I might as well get it, " he said.  Long story short, he bought all my groceries. I even tried to stop the cashier at a certain amount and he stopped me, "I said I got this," he said.''

She continued, ''I was in shock. The total ended up being $375. This guy is awesome run amok. You know why? He was just doing something kind for a dishevelled, harried stranger. Showing the love in his soul. Shining a light in the world.''

Therra then said that she started to cry, hugged the stranger and thanked him for his generosity.

When she asked him what his name was, he simply said, ''Chris.''

However, it soon dawned on her that this kind stranger wasn't just any regular guy – he was the Grammy award-winning rap artist Ludacris.

Once he left, the cashier told Therra who the man actually was – and she was floored.

“What Ludacris had no way of knowing is that his quiet kindness and generous gesture came at a moment when my candle was out,” Therra wrote.

“He used his personal light to fire up my own. Isn’t that what we should be doing for each other? I think it is. Be like Ludacris y’all.”

Wise words from Therra  – it's always heartwarming to hear of good deeds being done in the world.
