We're LOVING this story of these sisters' breastfeeding 'teamwork'
This is some sister breastfeeding teamwork right here!
Posted on the Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk, this mum explained how she niftily fed two babies – her own and her nephew – using both hers and her sister’s breastmilk.
“In some weird chain of events today I ended up breast feeding my sister’s son while she was away, because he would not take the bottle his momma pumped him,” she wrote on the post.
“In return because my son won't latch and is strictly fed bottles I pump, my sister was able to feed my son her perfectly good pumped milk. Which made for two very happy and content babies.”
Love it!
And the post prompted other mums to jump in with their stories of ‘milk-sharing’.
“When my daughter was about 10 weeks old my mom had her baby boy,” one commenter wrote. “Due to him not latching on her boobs were full of milk. So she needed to relieve some serious pain and engorgement, resulting in her breastfeeding her granddaughter. It was a one-time thing and it didn't bother me. Grandma got some relief and granddaughter got some liquid gold.”
While another added: “Omg I did the same to my sister’s daughter because she was out running around doing errands and didn't leave me enough milk for her daughter who was formula fed, but I managed to get her to take my boob and she did, and feed my own daughter which they both fell asleep on me. What a great day it felt good to feed my niece.”
“That's so awesome!” cheered another mum. “I'm an exclusive pumping momma for 18 months strong (son born with a tooth and never latched). I would gladly feed another baby if they could/would latch! I actually donate my extra pumped milk to momma that doesn't make enough milk. Have been for the past 6 months! I make exactly what my son and her son take in every day. The body is amazing!”
What do you think mums? Would you step in if your milk was needed? We'd love to hear from you so get commenting!
