Watch: This doctor dances to cheer up his sick patients and it's brilliant

We've all heard that laughter is the best medicine.

And this doctor took that quite literally when he cheered up his young patients post-operation.

Tony Adkins is a pediatric neurosurgery physician assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California.

To bring a smile to his patient's faces, the 42-year-old threw some moves and now it appears to have become a regular part of his treatment.

This lifted the hearts of the seriously ill children – exactly what Tony is aiming for.

Earning him the nickname ‘Dancing Doc’, Tony hopes that his dancing will keep the ‘magic of childhood’ in all of his patients despite their prognoses.

And he has no plans of stopping this new treatment soon.

He explains that ''dancing with patients is important because it adds levity and joy to the hospital experiences. Studies show that when people laugh, smile and become more interactive, the effect on the brain is more powerful than some pain medications.''

He continued, ''nothing is more important than the health of a child, and I am so lucky to play an integral role in that.''

We think that it is the most wonderful thing that he is doing and it shows how something as simple as dancing can lift someone's spirits so much.
