Watch: Man with Cerebral Palsy finally gets his dream of seeing the ocean for the first time

David Thomas has not left his hometown of Jefferson County, Alabama in over 20 years.

The last time was when he was a 15-year-old boy on a field trip.

It was always his dream to go on a trip to the beach, however his cerebral palsy has made it difficult for him to get around due to the wheelchair.

So what did his friends decide to do?

They took David on a holiday to Panama City, Florida, complete with a special wheelchair so he could go across the sands.

How amazing is that?!

This is totally heartbreaking but a nice story @CNN https://t.co/kW8VqZn7Qo

Thomas was awestruck at what his friends had done for him.

He told WJHG, “it was a place I always wanted to go.''

“It took me years to get here but God made a way for me to get here. I never imagined it looking like this, but it’s beautiful. I love it and don’t want to go home.”

He added, “I never really go anywhere so it’s just like a dream come true. This one moment I’ll never forget. No matter how old I may be, I will never forget this.”

The video of what happened has been uploaded to Facebook, clocking up 1.3k shares, almost 200 comments and over 500 likes.

Comments from well-wishers included, ''so happy for you! Your friends must love you very much. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I pray that God's blessings continue and wish you all the best.''

'Another one wrote, 'that is so awesome!!! So happy for you! Enjoy!'' and ''David you are so deserving of this!!!'

It is such a lovely story – we hope David enjoyed every minute of his wonderful beach trip.
