Want your tots to learn to CODE? Meet the Fisher Price Code-A-Pillar
Want you kids to be coding superstars before they can even read? Well Fisher Price has you covered with brand new toy Code-a-Pillar – a creeping caterpillar that teaches kids from ages 3-7 coding basics such as sequencing and programming.
So what is exactly is coding you may be wondering? Well, put simply, it’s the language which tells computers what to do. Everything you see on your screen right now is a result of inputted codes.
And many experts say that in the future more and more people will be employed in tech jobs, so by teaching our children code when they’re young and open to learning new things, we’re giving them a valuable head start.
The Code-a-Pillar, which will be available in autumn, is made up of eight connecting segments, each of which communicates a command which controls how the toy moves or acts. Kids choose how to sequence the parts, and once they press the start button the caterpillar moves according to its ‘programming’.
Pretty clever huh?
Mums, do you think exposing kids to coding at a young age is beneficial? Or are your own little onse learning it at the moment? We’d love to hear from you on this!
