Toddlers

This toddler was asked a bizarre set of questions when she went to pay for her new doll

When a little girl was allowed choose a toy as a reward, her mom had no idea what was about to unfold.

Brandi Benner brought her daughter, Sophia, to a toy store after she successfully learned how to use the potty, and asked her to pick out a toy.

Sophia’s attention instantly zoned in on a beautiful doll she found wearing a doctor’s costume and naturally her mom allowed her to have it.

But when they arrived at the check-out, they were not expecting a bizarre set of questions from the store’s cashier.

Brandi uploaded the post to Love What Matters recounting the altercation, and it is incredible.

The lady asked Sophia if she was going to a birthday party, when the toddler didn’t respond she pointed to the doll and asked if Sophia picked the doll out for a friend.

Sophia “continued to stare blankly” according to Brandi, who then let the cashier know the doll was a prize for being fully potty trained.

The cashier continued to question Sophia asking “are you sure this is the doll you want honey?”

The doll was black. Sophia was white.

Sophia insisted this was the doll she wanted. Puzzled, the cashier replied: “But she doesn’t look like you. We have plenty of other dolls that look more like you.”

Brandi explained she was initially angry but before she could respond to the cashier, her daughter, a toddler, gave the best response ever!

“Yes, she does. She’s a doctor like I’m a doctor. And I’m a pretty girl and she’s a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?”

Brandi signed off: “This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren’t born with the idea colour matters. Skin comes in different colours just like hair and eyes and every shade is beautiful.”

Thankfully this world has some pretty amazing children in it.
