Mums Who Inspire

This mum is doing something INCREDIBLE for an Irish couple whose son is extremely ill

Our Mums Who Inspire series celebrates all mamas who are doing/ have done something truly remarkable; whether it’s caring for a sick child, showing resilience during tough times, helping people in their community or simply making a difference in the life of someone else, we want to give them the recognition they deserve.

As part of our series this week, we have Frances from Organised Mayhem.

Mum-of-four Frances is a fan of upcycling and getting a bargain – just like the rest of us!

She is a firm believer that you don’t have to pay a fortune for quality, and uses her blog, Organised Mayhem,  to share tips from home décor and DIY to menu planning and budgets.

But that’s not all she does; in fact, the mum has started a Giveback Project to help those in her community.

And her latest project will really take you back and make you think.

Taking to her Facebook page, Frances explained her reasons for wanting to help this particular family.

“I got to meet an amazing brave family this morning, who are currently going through the biggest fight of their life,” she wrote.

“Their little boy was diagnosed with Leukaemia in December, a couple of days after his second birthday, and is currently going through gruelling treatment (his treatment plan is three and a half years long) with his mum having to take a leave of absence from work.”

However, the family are currently living in an unfinished house, something they had planned to do up over time – but now they don’t have time.

So, in a bid to help the family, Frances has decided to that she will give them the home they both need and deserve,

“They bought an old house just before they found out they were expecting their gorgeous little man, with the plan to do up the house over time,” she explained.

“Now they have no time, the house needs work and I have stepped in to project manage, giving them a home that will give him space to play (he can't mix with children at the moment and it will be that way for quite some time).”

But she needs help, and that’s where you come in.

“If you are one of the following and would like to get involved in a project where you will get way more than you give then please send me a PM:

  • Plumber
  • Tiler
  • Supplier of soft play surface/ climbing frames/climbing walls
  • Carpenter – I have one but need a second
  • Flooring specialist
  • Window supplier (we need 3 windows and a double door)

We have a builder.

“The project is located in South Dublin. If you would like to get involved in any way please feel free to PM me.”

What a wonderful way to bring the community together – do you know someone who could benefit from something like this.

If you know someone who has done something inspirational or you have your own story that you would like to see featured in our Mums Who Inspire series, email mary.byrne@sheologydigital.com and we'll be in touch.
