Big Kids

These trainers 'for mini sneaker geeks' are the best things we've ever seen

Buying trainers for your kids is a little bit different than if you went in to get something for yourself.

For one, you generally spend a lot more money on their shoes than you would on your own (well, if you're like us you do).

Which is why we want them to fit enough so that the kids won't trip over themselves, but big enough that we won't end up buying another pair for at least 12 months… depending on how fast your little one grows, of course.

So, we decided to try My First Trainers from Life Styles Sports out for you – a new personalised fitting service to help little feet develop as they grow – to help make shopping a lot easier.

And what did we discover, we hear you ask?

Well, for one (and this is a big one) the guys on the team know how to handle kids… you know what we mean – we actually left the store smiling!

They also offer size specialist fitting advice and have a bespoke measuring service with in-store product experts (handy for us mums who tend to say "ah, sure, they're grand" – despite the fact that the shoes are WAY too big).

We were also pleasantly surprised when we saw the huge selection of both boys AND girls runners with sizes ranging from 4 – 9.

Nike, Adidas Originals, Vans, New Balance and Puma… they had them all there. Oh, and they are all less than €50.

But it's more than the name; all trainers in the range offer flexible support, lasting durability and have no tricky laces. They are also lightweight and breathable for mini peeps who are unsteady on their feet as they take those first steps.

And, yes, we left the shop with a very happy boy, and a very stylish pair of Nikes.
