Mums Who Inspire

The Clare mother and daughter duo behind beautiful Irish babywear brand Millie and Me

There’s something quietly lovely about a business that begins with one woman’s vision and ends up becoming something a mother and daughter build together. That’s exactly the story behind Millie and Me, the Clare-based babywear brand that has been quietly winning hearts across Ireland since 2019.

The roots of the brand actually stretch back much further than that. In 2007, Fiona opened Little Ones, a family-run baby and children’s shop in Ennis. She spent years immersed in the world of babywear and gifts, learning what families actually wanted and what they’d genuinely reach for again and again. By 2019, she was ready to create something of her own. And so Millie and Me was born.

What Fiona perhaps didn’t fully anticipate was that her daughter Millie would one day be standing right beside her, helping to shape where the brand goes next.

A family business built from the inside out

Millie grew up watching her mum build Little Ones, and later Millie and Me, from the ground up. She absorbed all of it: the decisions over prints, the conversations with stockists, the sheer volume of work that goes into keeping a small Irish brand alive and growing. When she became old enough to get properly involved, it felt like a natural next step rather than a dramatic pivot.

“What began as Mum’s brand eventually became something that we could build together,” Millie explains. Today the two of them work side by side across every part of the business, from product development and print selection to packing orders, managing the website and nurturing relationships with retailers.

It’s the kind of working dynamic that sounds either wonderful or absolutely chaotic depending on your own family experience. But for Fiona and Millie, it seems to have found its rhythm.

The range itself

Millie and Me specialises in organic cotton babywear and gifts designed to feel timeless rather than trend-led. The collection includes rompers, sleepsuits, bandana bibs, hats, muslins and gift boxes, all sized from newborn up to 18 months. The prints are considered rather than chaotic, the kind of thing you’d genuinely want to photograph your baby wearing rather than quietly retire after one use.

For anyone who has ever panicked over what to bring to a baby shower, or stood in a shop feeling overwhelmed by options that all look vaguely the same, Millie and Me’s approach is a bit of a relief. There’s a clarity to what they make and why they make it.

Where to find them

The brand has grown steadily since its launch and is now stocked by a number of Irish retailers. You can find Millie and Me at Little Ones in Ennis, Shannon Airport Duty Free, Nest in Kenmare and Butterslip in Kilkenny. The full range is also available online at millieandme.ie, which is handy when you need a gorgeous baby gift and can’t face another car park.

For Millie, one of the most meaningful parts of the whole journey is simply that she got to watch her mum build something from scratch and then join her in taking it further. It’s a thread that runs through everything the brand does: the idea that something made with care, by people who genuinely love what they do, tends to show in the finished product.

And if that finished product also happens to keep a newborn looking extremely well dressed, so much the better.
