SuperValu's Half Price Turkey Promotion Is Starting This Week
Christmas dinner planning in this house starts earlier every year. The turkey is always the thing that causes the most low-level anxiety — will it be big enough, will it be good enough, and ideally, will it not cost the earth? If you’re already thinking along those lines, SuperValu has something worth knowing about before you do your next shop.
From Thursday, 5 November, SuperValu’s Real Rewards Half Price Turkey promotion kicks off for 2026, giving customers the chance to earn Turkey Tokens and unlock a half price turkey at just €3.50 per kg. The way it works is simple: collect one Turkey Token for every €1 spent in participating SuperValu stores or online between 5 November and 24 December, as long as you scan your Real Rewards card or app when you shop. Given that the weekly grocery run isn’t going anywhere between now and Christmas, those tokens can add up quickly without you having to think too much about it.
The dates worth putting in your phone now
There are two Double Token Weeks built into the promotion, which is where you can really make the most of your regular shopping. The first runs from 16–22 November and the second from 7–13 December. If you’re doing a bigger shop in those windows you’ll earn tokens twice as fast.
SuperValu is recommending that customers place their Christmas turkey order by 8 December, with collection available from your preferred store between 20–24 December. Worth noting: in some stores, a €10 deposit may be required when placing your order to confirm it ahead of collection.
Irish turkeys, proper provenance
SuperValu sells more whole Irish turkeys at Christmas than any other retailer in the market, and all of their turkeys are sourced from Irish suppliers and carry Bord Bia Quality Assurance. One of those suppliers is the McCaghey family, whose turkey story started in 1951 when Granny McCaghey raised nine birds to sell to neighbours for Christmas. Now in its third generation, the family business employs more than 200 people during the Christmas season and has been supplying SuperValu since 2009.
Raymond McCaghey put it nicely: “From the nine turkeys our grandmother first raised in 1951 to where we are today, Christmas has always been at the heart of our family business, and we are very proud to continue that tradition.”
It’s the kind of supplier story that’s easy to gloss over when you’re grabbing a trolley at speed, but it’s genuinely worth a moment. A family business that started with nine turkeys in the early fifties, now BRC certified and Origin Green approved. That’s not nothing.
