Strangers spot little girl on the side of the road, and get a shock when they start following her

What an incredible little girl.

Angela Shymanski was driving back from a holiday in Calgary with her kids – Lexi (5) and 10-weeks-old Peter – when she fell asleep at the wheel.

Her SUV rolled down a 12-metre embankment before coming to rest upside down against a tree. The mum-of-two was knocked unconscious by the impact.

When Lexi, who was asleep at the time, woke up to find her brother crying and her mum unresponsive she knew she had to do something.

So the little girl climbed up the embankment to get help.

The first car to see the youngster standing on the side of the road in her bare feet pulled over – obviously unaware of what had happened.

However, when Lexi brought them down to the crash site, the situation became clear.

Paramedics were called and Anglea and Lexi were airlifted to University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, according to Prince George Citizen.

Peter was also taken by ambulance to hospital.

Thankfully, while they all have a long road ahead, they are said to be doing well.

And Lexi, who saved both her brother and her mum, was recognised in a ceremony at Edmonton police headquarters, where she received a medal of bravery.
