Stepdad's 'wedding' vows to his new daughter will have you BAWLING
We are emotional wrecks after watching the gorgeous moment a stepdad recited special vows to his stepdaughter on his wedding day.
Brian Scott was marrying mum Whitney Kay, who had daughter Brielle from a previous marriage, in a ceremony in Idaho in the US.
But what no one was expecting was the special set of vows he pulled out to read to his stepdaughter.
After reading Whitney his vows, Brian turned and said “Brielle, can I tell you something?” before launching into the promises he vows to keep as her new dad.
“I promise to always hold your hand and skip with you down the street and bring comfort to your life,” he read.
“I promise to read you stories at night, to always tuck you in real tight.
“I vow to show you how a man should treat a woman in my relationship with your mother.
“And above all else, I vow to protect you, care for you, and love you forever.”
Aww.
“Honestly, it was just cool to let everybody else see how much he loved her and to let their relationship shine,” said Whitney. “As a [single] mother, it was hard and I was worried that I would never find anybody again – especially to love her, too. I knew it already – I knew the love that they had – but it just shocked me to see it play out in front of me.”
And Brian had his own (super sweet) reasons for reciting the vows:
“The thing is, so often people consider women that might have children from a previous relationship as a negative thing when in all actuality, I really feel like it’s a positive,” he said.
“You’re getting not just one person who loves you – you’re getting two. If you nurture it in the right way and you commit to it, it’s a welcome addition and a positive thing in so many ways – that’s what I wanted to show.”
