Santa Is Coming to Croke Park and It Looks Brilliant
If your little one is already counting down the days to Christmas while simultaneously obsessing over the GAA, this might just be the most perfectly Irish festive outing imaginable. The GAA Museum at Croke Park is set to host a Santa Experience unlike anything else around this November and December, and it sounds like an absolute treat.
From Saturday, 28th November to Wednesday, 23rd December 2026, Santa and Mrs Claus will be bringing the entire North Pole GAA team to Croke Park, where families are invited to join the elves for a festive training camp at the home of Gaelic Games. Whether your children are mad about football, hurling or camogie, or you’re simply looking for a Santa visit that goes a little beyond the usual shopping centre grotto, Croke Park is a pretty spectacular backdrop for it all.
What to expect on the day
The experience begins in the North Pole GAA Elf Dressing Rooms, where Santa’s team are busy preparing for their big Christmas Eve journey. Little ones will get a peek behind the scenes before being put through their festive paces in the North Pole Skills Zone, with games designed to test aim, agility and sporting skills. Think less panicked last-minute shopping, more controlled chaos in the very best sense.
Then comes the main event. Families will make their way to Santa’s cosy Croke Park cabin, where Santa and Mrs Claus will be waiting to hear Christmas wishes, have a chat and, if the mood takes them, perhaps even make a few predictions about the 2027 All-Ireland Championships.
Each booking will have its own private moment with Santa, so there’s no feeling rushed or short-changed. Professional photographs will be available to purchase after the visit, but families are absolutely welcome to take their own too. Before heading home, every child will collect a gift from the North Pole GAA Gifting Station, presented without wrapping paper in line with the museum’s sustainability ethos.

The GAA Museum is part of the ticket
Admission to the GAA Museum is included with every Santa Experience ticket, which means the outing stretches well beyond the grotto itself. Across two floors, families can explore the stories, moments and people that have shaped Gaelic Games, including the Hall of Fame, the trophy collection and an interactive games area where children and grown-ups alike can test their football, hurling and camogie skills.
Young visitors can also pick up a Cúchulainn’s Christmas Quest booklet and follow a trail of clues through the museum to track down elves hiding among the exhibits, with a small prize on offer for those who crack the case. Cú Chulainn’s Den will keep younger children entertained while the adults take a proper look around without the usual sprint-past-everything approach that tends to happen on days out.
For families who might need a quieter moment during all the excitement, Cú Chulainn’s Corner Sensory Space offers a calm retreat. Dedicated sensory visits are also available, and you can contact [email protected] for more information on those.
The practical bits
The full Santa Experience lasts around 50 minutes, and families are encouraged to allow at least another 30 minutes to enjoy the museum. The experience is entirely indoors and is wheelchair and buggy accessible, with free parking available in the Cusack Car Park off Clonliffe Road.
Ticket prices, excluding booking fees, are as follows:
-
Adults: €17
-
Children aged 2 and over: €25, including gift
-
Children aged 13 to 23 months: €19, including gift
-
Children under 1: Free, including gift (a ticket must still be booked)
Professional Santa photographs can be purchased after the visit: €15 for one, €20 for two or €25 for three, with a souvenir booklet included. All children aged 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and all tickets must be booked online in advance as there will be no on-the-day sales. Given how quickly these things tend to sell out, early booking is genuinely recommended.
