Parents receive a peculiar letter from HOA, and we don't even know where to begin

Several homeowners in Granite Bay, California, are fuming over a letter sent out by the homeowners association which they believe has stepped over the line.

The letter which was received by Jed and Suzanne Peters, informs the couple that the homeowners association are not happy with where their children have been playing in the estate.

The Peters family had just moved to their new neighbourhood two-months previous, and felt the letter was of poor taste.

The note stated: "We have several reports from homeowners who have almost hit your children while they have been playing in the streets – please have your children play in your backyard or at Gina park."

According to CBS Sacramento, Jed stated: "Honestly we were a little put out, real upset to the fact we didn’t feel welcome in our neighbourhood."

"We got a handwritten note from our association manager that states, perhaps we should have the children play in the backyard or at the park.”

While Jed and his wife are not against the association, believing the neighbourhood should always look sharp and up to standard, they strongly feel the letter has gone too far.

According to the Peters the children were just outside playing, not in any danger which the letter suggests, and many of their neighbours have agreed with the family.

Some have even come forward to say that their children too play outside and they're baffled by the note.

In a world where we continuously complain about children spending their time indoors, obsessed with technology and social media, should people not be happy to see kids outside playing and riding their bikes.

We do believe that safety is of utmost importance, but with 75 positive responses to the Peters' plight within the neighbourhood, it would seem as though these children weren't causing any problems.

What do you think of this? Is the letter out of order, or should we not have our children play to the front of the house anymore?
