Family Life

One couple's genuine love story is equally tragic as it is beautiful

Highschool sweethearts would never have been the term Rebecca and David would have used to describe their relationship.

The pair dated for a year-and-a-half but then parted, going their separate ways.

However, soon after the split, Rebecca discovered she was expecting a baby.

Nonetheless both parents moved on, with Rebecca moving from California to the East Coast where she met her husband, Paul, and had more children.

David too, moved on. He married a woman at home in California, setting up life with their two kids – however they're relationship sadly ended.

But it wasn't all doom and gloom – his love story was just beginning.

David went on to meet another lady who he fell madly in love with, and she became his wife, Courtney.

Wanting some stability for the son he shared with Rebecca, the two parents reconnected, becoming friends.

But in 2013, Rebecca, now mum-of-three, lost her husband Paul, uprooting through the tragic circumstance, moving home to California.

Thankfully, she had David to lean on for support as he helped the family come to terms with their loss.

But the heartbreak wasn't ending for these two families.

In a tragic turn of events, Rebecca found herself becoming David's rock when he found out his wife, Courtney, was diagnosed with cancer a short time later.

Losing her battle with cancer in 2016, both families became closer, with Rebecca and David increasingly relying on one another for support.

However, the tragic loss that bonded the pair has led to the pair falling in love with one another all over again.

According to their talented photographer, Duffi Crowson: "They had texts, phone calls and long talks over coffee about ridiculous things people say and what it feels like to be in the horrible club of the widowed."

"That high school romance from 24 years-ago rekindled but has grown into something completely new, completely different. They miss and love their spouses and will always love them."

"So this…this is scary and wonderful and crazy… but real. It's life. It's Chaotic Perfection."

The biggest regret both parents have from when they were teens though, was that they never had newborn or baby shots taken of their son.

Having childhood friend Duffi take over snapping duty – the pair set about having a photoshoot where their 21-year-old son Clayton, posed as a baby for the shots.

Posting the photographs online ignited the curiosity for the couple's wonderful love story through their journey of loss.

This is one of the most beautiful stories we have heard yet. This couple deserves a lifetime of happiness.
