Officer saves the day after a 92-year-old man causes a 'disturbance' at the bank

When the Montebello Police Department in California were called to a disturbance in the Bank of America, we’re pretty sure they had no idea that the ‘disturbance’ was in fact a 92-year-old man.

The elderly gentleman had popped into the bank to withdraw funds but because his ID card had expired, the clerks were “unable to fulfil his request”.

The man then became upset and the bank was forced to call the police.

However, when Officer Robert Josett arrived on the scene, rather that arrest the man for being disorderly, he decided to do something totally different.

Escorting the gentleman out of the building, Officer Josett brought him to the DMV, where the 92-year-old was able to renew his ID card.

Officer Robert then took the elderly man back to the bank where he was able to withdraw funds successfully.

Montebello Police Department shared the story on their Facebook page, writing: “Earlier today, officers responded to the Bank of America in Montebello regarding a patron who was causing a disturbance.

“Upon officer’s arrival, they discovered that a 92 year old man was trying to withdraw money from his account, however his California identification card was expired.

"Per the banks policy, because his identification card was expired, they were unable to fulfil his request. The gentleman was upset and the police were called.

“Once officers arrived, Officer Robert Josett decided to take the man to the DMV in town to help him renew his identification card. With the assistance of the DMV, his identification card was renewed and he was taken back to the bank at which time he was able to withdraw money from his account. He thanked Officer Josett and went on his way.

Seeing the officer's good deed, people were quick to praise him for his kindness.

"Good cops do exist despite the rumours to the opposite," wrote one.

Another said: "Thank you officer Robert Josett!!! You stepped outside the box to resolve the issue. Great to hear the outstanding work done by the MPD.[sic]"
