New Irish Supplement Tackles the Hidden Health Issue Affecting Busy Mums

You know that feeling when you're absolutely wrecked by three o'clock in the afternoon? Not just tired, but that bone-deep exhaustion that no amount of coffee seems to touch. Or when your mood feels like it's on a rollercoaster and you can't quite put your finger on why. Turns out, there might be something quietly brewing beneath the surface that's making everything that bit harder.

A new Irish supplement brand launched today is taking aim at something most of us have never even heard of: chronic inflammation. And no, we're not talking about the kind of inflammation you get with a sprained ankle or a sore throat. This is the silent, sneaky type that's been linked to everything from constant tiredness and low mood to stress and metabolic issues.

At One has been developed by pharmacist Oonagh O'Hagan and nutritional scientist Dr Daniel Jones, and they reckon it could change how we think about looking after ourselves before things go wrong. The idea is to tackle inflammation at its root, rather than waiting until symptoms show up and start causing havoc.

What's chronic inflammation anyway?

Right, so here's the science bit (we promise to keep it brief). Chronic inflammation isn't the kind that makes things red and swollen. It's a low-level, ongoing response in your body that can be triggered by stress, processed foods and poor sleep. Sound familiar? If you're running on fumes, living off beige dinners the kids won't complain about and collapsing into bed at half ten only to lie awake worrying about everything, your body might be struggling with inflammation.

For most of us, chronic inflammation stays hidden until symptoms develop or get worse. And in today's world of hustle culture, school runs, packed lunches, work deadlines and trying to remember if you took the chicken out of the freezer, our bodies are under constant pressure.

Oonagh O'Hagan, who's been a pharmacist for over 30 years and is the owner and Managing Director of the Meaghers Pharmacy Group, says she's seen a dramatic rise in inflammation-driven conditions, and in younger people too.

"I have seen a dramatic rise in inflammation-driven conditions, and at increasingly younger ages which has both fascinated and alarmed me," she explains. "People in today's 'hustle culture' are more stressed, eating more processed foods and obtaining poorer quality sleep. Our bodies are struggling. Daniel and I came together because we were seeing the same issue from two sides: scientific research and real-world patient experience. We believe that by addressing the root causes of inflammation, we can contribute to better immediate and long-term health and wellbeing."

Morning boost, evening wind-down

At One isn't just one supplement you take and forget about. The brand has developed two products that work with your body's natural rhythm: a morning formula and an evening one.

AtOne Morning Start daily nutritional supplement box in Sicilian Lemon & Ginger flavor with green and white packaging

This Morning Start supplement promises all-day energy with a refreshing Sicilian lemon and ginger flavour.

The Morning Start formula (which comes in Sicilian Lemon & Ginger flavour) is designed to support all-day energy, immune function, metabolism, mental sharpness and even healthy hair and skin. Basically, it's trying to give you a fighting chance at feeling human before the school run chaos begins.

AtOne Evening Restore Calming Cacao nutritional supplement box with single-serve sachet

This cacao-flavoured evening supplement is designed to support restful sleep and help keep your body in balance.

Then there's Evening Restore in Calming Cacao flavour, which focuses on restful sleep, hormone balance, immune support, a peaceful mind and muscle recovery. Because let's be honest, if you're not sleeping properly everything else falls apart pretty quickly.

The formulations are designed to support something called cytokine balance. Cytokines are proteins that influence how your body responds to inflammation, and keeping them in check is key to feeling well. The clever bit is that At One works with your circadian rhythm (your body's 24-hour internal clock) rather than against it.

Dr Daniel Jones, who holds a PhD in Physiology from University College Dublin and has spent nearly 15 years researching inflammation, says this approach is what sets At One apart.

"In science, we have long understood the central role inflammation plays in long-term health. What has been missing is an accessible way for consumers to proactively support their own inflammatory regulation," he says. "At One brings biology back to the core of nutrition. Empowering people with an understanding of inflammation gives them the ability to transform their health. At One merges science, nature and human biology to address the growing challenge of inflammation, offering a practical and effective way for individuals to support balance, energy and long-term wellbeing."

Irish-made and transparent

One thing that's refreshing about At One is that it's produced right here in Ireland and the makers are big on transparency and sustainability. The ingredients are natural, vegan and gluten-free, which is handy if you or someone in your house has dietary restrictions (and let's face it, who doesn't these days?).

The supplements come in individual sachets, 21 per box, which makes them easy to grab on busy mornings or remember to take before bed. No faffing about with giant tubs or trying to remember if you've already taken your dose.

It's worth noting that while At One is all about supporting your body's natural processes, it's not a magic fix. If you're genuinely struggling with fatigue, low mood or other ongoing symptoms, it's always worth chatting to your GP or pharmacist. But for those of us looking to support our overall wellbeing and maybe get ahead of the curve when it comes to inflammation, it's an interesting option.

At One is available now at feelatone.com, Meaghers Pharmacies and selected stockists. For current pricing and stockist information, check the website directly.
