Mum nails the meaning of co-parenting in 'thank you' letter

Brittney Johnson met Kayla Imhoff for the first time when her daughter Payton was just two-years-old.

It was a nervous introduction at the park, as Brittney was meeting the woman who was about to be a part of her daughter's life.

Kayla had begun a relationship with Payton's dad, and now Brittney had to share her daughter with this woman.

But as is the case in many co-parenting instances, this meeting didn't end in tears or bitterness.

It was the fruition of a beautiful friendship, so that Payton could have two best friends and role models.

Brittney revealed she had prayed for the day her ex's new partner would be a woman her daughter could look up to as she was going to be raised in two homes, asking the question:

"To all of the mothers out there who throw a fit when another woman treats your child as her own: why isn't that exactly what you want?"

"Kayla has been a gift of so much more than I could have hoped for."

Kayla has recently started nursing school, Payton becoming infatuated with her new role was gifted a pair of matching scrubs from the new woman in her life.

"I want nothing more than for her to be surrounded with role models who are exactly that."

"Thank you Kayla for showing Payton how to chase her dreams, how to work hard and stay up late to study for a test."

Nonetheless, Brittney credits this woman for still being there for her daughter, even though she's going through a stressful period of school and study.

Putting Payton first is mum's top priority, and she believes all parents should consider what is best for their child when faced with a co-parenting situation.

"Payton has more people to love her this way, and what more could a mother ever want for her child?"

"You're a true role model and an amazing bonus mom and we are so proud of you!"

Now this is something we think is quite special, what an amazing mum.
