True that! 'Family comes in all different shapes and sizes'

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and it is important that we as mums make our kids aware of this.

Just like the rest of us, Oona Lee had her life mapped out; marriage and a house full of kids, laughter, love, chaos, and all the joys.

However, after suffering two miscarriages and a divorce, she felt like she had let her daughter, Lily, down, believing she could no longer give her the family she so wanted to.

"From the moment I knew I was pregnant, my goal was to provide a loving family for my child," Oona wrote on the Love What Matters Facebook page.

"I came from a small family and I wanted my daughter, Lily, to have a house full of siblings, laughter, love, chaos, and all the joys and miseries that entails.

"Two miscarriages and a divorce later, there was a time when I thought I had failed her."

The mum thought her chance of a "two point four family dynamic" was no more.

Well, that was until she met Luke, a father-of-one who helped her see that she could have the family she so desired.

Acknowledging that Lily has both a dad, a step-dad and a step-sister, Oona says she can now teach her daughter that "love and family come in all different shapes, sizes, and flavours."

"She has already shown her strength, resilience, and acceptance. She has shown me that she understands the most important lesson — love is what makes a family."
