Kids Go Free at EPIC Dublin This Mid-Term Until Sunday
Mid-term is underway and if you're already running low on ideas to keep the kids entertained, here's one worth bookmarking. EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum has brought back its popular Kids Go Free offer and it runs until this Sunday, 22nd February.
The deal is pretty solid: up to three children aged 12 and under can visit for free with every paying adult. That's right. Three. So whether you've got a small army of your own or you're roping in the cousins for a group outing, the maths works very much in your favour here.
What's Actually There?
If you haven't been to EPIC before, it's genuinely one of those museums that doesn't feel like hard work. No dragging reluctant children past endless glass cases while they ask when they can go to McDonald's. The whole place is interactive and designed to keep little hands busy and curious minds engaged.
The museum explores the history of Irish emigration through multimedia galleries and hands-on exhibits. Kids can learn about the journeys millions of Irish people took across the world, discovering stories of those who left and the mark they made globally. It's educational without being preachy and actually manages to hold the attention of even the wiggly ones.
The offer also includes the Jeanie Johnston Replica Famine Ship which sits right outside. Walking aboard a replica of the vessel that carried emigrants across the Atlantic is properly atmospheric. Expect questions. Lots of questions. But the good kind!
EPIC is located in the CHQ building down in the Docklands, right on the banks of the Liffey. The building itself is gorgeous (restored Victorian warehouse vibes) and the area around it has loads of options for food and drinks if you want to extend the outing beyond the museum.
There are cafés and restaurants nearby so you can bribe everyone with a hot chocolate afterwards. Or treat yourself to a proper coffee while they're still buzzing about what they learned. You've earned it.
Getting there is fairly painless too. It's about a 10-minute walk from O'Connell Street and accessible via all the major public transport routes. If you're driving in, there's parking available in the area though it can get busy during mid-term so maybe allow a bit of extra time.
The Details You Need
The Kids Go Free offer is running now and continues until Sunday 22nd February. You'll need to book in advance so head to the EPIC website to sort tickets before you go. Nothing worse than turning up with three excited children only to find out you needed to pre-book (we've all been there).
For a mid-term activity that's actually interesting for both kids and adults, this one ticks a lot of boxes. It's indoors (crucial given February weather), it's interactive, it's educational without being boring and right now it won't cost you a fortune.
Sometimes mid-term feels like an endurance test but days out like this? They're the ones that actually make memories.
