'It's second nature to me': Bus driver praised for his kind gesture

We are all familiar with bus drivers who speed off as you're running for a bus, aren't we?

However, there are some bus drivers out there who go to some lengths to ensure that they can help – which is what 28-year old Thaddaus Turner did when he noticed an older blind man trying to make his way across a street that was under construction.

Gene Hubbard, 69, is sadly is blind aa result of his diabetes, but nevertheless he has still been working for the past 20 years.

He is well able to make his way to his job in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from the bus stop, but due to the construction, he found himself struggling.

According to the Good News Network, Gene said, ''if I don’t have a regular locating point to start from, I may as well be in the middle of the ocean.''

Thankfully, this is where a bus driver who was passing through noticed Gene's distress.

Thaddaus Turner, the 28-year-old Milwaukee County Transit System driver, noticed the orange cones at Gene's stop.

So he parked the bus and  followed the man down the step, took his arm and helped him to manoeuvre past the road work.

A driver going by – Sydney Kazmierczak –  saw what was happening and took a photo of the good deed.

Sydney then posted the video to Facebook and wrote, “I feel like I was placed there at the right time to capture this moment!! I am so happy I quick pulled out my phone to snap the picture! Thad deserves to be recognised!!”

Thaddaus was shocked when he realised footage had been taken of him and Gene.

He told CNN that, “the route was barricaded, it was rough for me as a driver, I can only imagine how rough it was for him. I was surprised when I saw it in the news. I didn't think I would be here right now over something that is second nature to me, and my colleagues.”

Social media was full of praise for Thaddaus and his act of kindness.

One wrote, ''great job Mr Bus Driver! Thank you! Can we get him a standing ovation on twitter? Good guys rarely get enough credit.''

Another said, ''what a magnificent human being! Your driver demonstrates the very best of human kindness! Thank you for supporting his work ethic.''

Well done Thaddaus, you should be proud!
