'Immense love': Grandmother carries and gives birth to miracle grandchild

Fertility struggles are so common and the pain that couples go through when trying for a baby are tough.

But this story shows that help can come form the most unexpected of places.

A Nebraskan couple, Matthew Eledge and Elliot Dougherty, wanted to have a child and started looking into IVF.

However, Matthews mum Cecile offered to be heir surrogate although the pair didn't think that it would be possible at the time.

She said, ''If you want me to be the gestational carrier, I’d do it in a heartbeat.”

So when they heard from the reproductive endocrinologist that it was possible  – even though she had been through menopause –  they were delighted.

She started taking hormone and even more amazingly,  Elliot's sister, Lea Yribe, offered to donate her eggs to them.

How amazing are this family?

Lea's eggs were fertilsied using Matthews sperm and then implanted into Cecile's uterus.

She became pregnant on the first try.

A photographer, Ariel Pabowicz, was there at the birth and the photos are so touching.

She captioned it, ''Well, holy smokes, y'all. Little tiny Uma Louise has ventured into this world and let me tell you, she is simply perfect. Carried and birthed by her 61 year old Grandmother, and created by her two Dads and loving Aunt, Uma is surrounded by an immense amount of love.''

She continued, ''Being a part of today was amazing. Cele, you are a warrior. @matt_eledge + @ephemeral.elliot, you're already the best Dads. Can't wait to watch you all grow.''

Cecile gave birth to her granddaughter at 61-years-old and it has brought such excitement to the family.

Massive congratulations to them all.
