Home Alone in Concert Is Coming to Dublin's 3Arena This Christmas

There are certain films that don’t just belong to your childhood — they belong to Christmas itself. And for most Irish families of a certain vintage, Home Alone is right at the top of that list. Kevin McCallister, his booby traps, the Wet Bandits, and that John Williams score. It’s as much a part of the season as the tree going up or the tin of Roses appearing on the coffee table.

This December, the whole thing is getting a seriously special upgrade. Home Alone in Concert is coming to the 3Arena in Dublin on Sunday, 20th December 2026 — and it is going to be an evening to remember.

The full film, live on the big screen

The complete movie will be shown on a big screen while the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Dublin Gospel Choir perform John Williams’ Oscar-nominated score live to picture. If you’ve never experienced a film with a live orchestra underneath it, it genuinely changes everything. The music that you’ve half-absorbed over thirty years of Christmas viewings suddenly hits differently when it’s being played in the same room as you.

From the opening notes of Somewhere in My Memory to the full comedic chaos of Kevin’s battle against Harry and Marv, hearing it all performed live is going to be something else entirely.

Macaulay Culkin joins live from Los Angeles

As if the live orchestra and choir weren’t enough, once the end credits roll, the evening will continue with something genuinely special. Macaulay Culkin himself will join live from Los Angeles for an exclusive on-stage conversation, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and memories from the making of the film. It’ll be moderated by the brilliant Ruth Scott, who put it well herself.

“Home Alone is such a huge part of Christmas for so many of us, so it’s going to be a real treat to experience the film with a live orchestra and choir at 3Arena,” she said. “I’m especially looking forward to chatting with Macaulay and hearing some of his memories from making such an iconic Christmas movie. It’s going to be a very special night.”

Honestly? Hard to argue with that. For anyone who grew up with Kevin McCallister as their unofficial festive hero, the chance to hear the man himself talk about making it is something a bit beyond your standard Christmas night out.

Tickets, timing and the VIP option

General tickets are priced from €69.90 (subject to fees) and will go on sale on Thursday, 10th September at 10am via Ticketmaster.ie. If you’re a Three customer, a Three+ Presale begins on Tuesday, 8th September at 10am, giving you early access before the general sale opens.

There’s also a Nice List VIP Package available, which includes premium seating closest to the stage, an exclusive VIP laminate, a movie night snack bag and a commemorative Home Alone souvenir. For a pre-Christmas night that doubles as a proper family memory, it’s a solid option.

For parents who grew up watching this film every single year without fail, there’s something genuinely lovely about the idea of bringing your own children to see it — not on the telly with the sound of someone’s phone going off in the background, but on a huge screen in the 3Arena with a full orchestra playing live. That’s the kind of thing kids remember.
