Grandson is devastated when his granny can't go to his baseball game - so he brings it to her

78-year-old Marilyn Seavers always went to her grandson's baseball games.

Zach and Marilyn were the best of friends and she never missed a game, until chemo and radiation treatments made her too sick to attend.

Marilyn was suffering from stage IV lung cancer, and the 19-year-old was devastated when she couldn't make his game playing in his college uniform.

However, he had something up his sleeve so that Marilyn could get to see him playing in his uniform.

"She never actually got to see me pitch in college," Zach told Belleville News-Democrat.

"Whenever I started hearing that things were not good with her health, I thought of what I wanted to do."

So the next day, the 19-year-old told his aunt to bring Marilyn's wheelchair to the window and open the blinds.

Not really sure what was going on, the pair were shocked and surprised to see a dozen athletes standing in the garden.

Unbeknownst to them, Zach had asked his teammates from the Lewis and Clark College baseball team if they would play a game in his granny's backyard.

"Every guy who was there came out without hesitation,” Zach explained.

"All of them are nice people, and it was really cool that they could come out and be with me and my family. Everybody had a lot of fun with it. I could see into her bedroom window, and there were smiles all around."

A makeshift baseball diamond was drawn in the garden and Marilyn got to watch her grandson pitch in his uniform from the comfort of her bedroom.

Sadly, the 78-year-old passed away two weeks after the game surrounded by her friends and family.

What a lovely gesture from her grandson – a memory we're sure he'll cherish for a long time to come.
