Fun for all! Keep the kids happy by taking them to these FREE events this July

Looking for something to do now that the kids are off school for the next few months? 

Well, lucky for you, there is plenty happening across the country this July – and most of them are FREE! 

1. Seafest Galway harbour

When: June 30th- July 2nd

This free festival has exhibits on marine life and fun activities including an aerial acrobatics show and the return of the famous tall ship, The Phoenix.

2. Laya City Spectacular, Dublin and Cork

When: Merrion Square, Dublin 7th- 9th July and Fitzgerald Park, Cork 15th- 16th July

Watch some amazing street performances in Dublin or Cork courtesy of Laya City Spectacular. See the entertainers compete for the title of 'Street Performance World Champion'. There will also be a host of free family activities throughout the festival.

3. The Gruffalo Trail at Colin Glen Park, Belfast

When: This is a year round, free event.

Let the kids explore their favourite book in real life. Enter through the Gruffalo archway and follow the trail to the Gruffalo seating area. Take photos with the famed characters that have been recreated in sculpture and relax afterward with a cuppa in the cafe.

4. Bagenalstown Summer Madness Festival, Carlow

When: July 14th- 16th

This festival is full of free events including street entertainment, duck racing, raft racing and much more.

5. Castlegregory Summer Festival, Kerry

When: July 5th- 9th

This festival has a host of free family events, including: children and adult fancy dress parades, sandcastle competitions, pet shows and more.

6. Bray Air Show

When: July 22nd- 23rd

This free event is renowned as one of Europe's best air displays. It is sure to have the kids in awe, make sure to get there early as thousands turn up to watch annually!

7. Office of Public Works Heritage Sites; various locations across the country

From July 1st, children under 12 will be allowed enjoy heritage sites managed by the Office of Public Works Heritage Service for FREE.

These include: Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre, Desmond Castle, Glendalough Visitor Centre, Dublin Castle, Sligo Abbey, Roscrea Heritage Centre, Donegal Castle  Clonmacnoise, Kilkenny Castle, Newgrange and the Rock of Cashel to name a few.
