First time mum reveals difficulties of embracing her new role, and we completely understand
Laura Benanti has become a mum for the first time.
And while she cherishes her little bundle of joy, she admits that being a mum is hard for her at times.
Laura, like so many mums, has credited her hardship to her own self-doubt.
“For me, sometimes it's really hard. Hard because I doubt myself. Hard because I'm tired.”
“Hard because the outside voices of (mostly) well meaning advisors can overwhelm and confuse me. Hard because I'm lonely. Hard because my hormones are bananas. Just. Hard,” she adds.
However, Laura tells us of her epiphany moment while feeding her daughter, and has decided to change her self-doubting attitude:
“She will never be this small again. I can either spend these days judging myself, and wishing for things to ‘get easier’ or I can try to take it moment by moment.”
As Laura vows to always remember the moment she shared with her daughter that led her to this point, her post is inspiring many mums to stay in the moments, because they go by so quickly.
Many have also recounted their difficulties after giving birth as well as sharing words of encouragement for the mum:
One user commented: "This describes motherhood in general and not just for new moms but for all moms to grab onto…it's a journey well worth travelling but truer words were never spoken. Love that girl like there's no tomorrow and let your heart be your guide!!"
Sounds like you've got that Mom thing down perfectly: realising you don't have to be perfect. Just love your baby and enjoy how she looks up at you as "each irreplaceable day goes by," added another.
All these mums certainly have one thing in common, they're the best mums they can be.
