Dublin Comic Con Is Back This August and Currys Is Bringing the Games

If you’ve got a child who could tell you the entire Marvel timeline before they could tie their own shoelaces, Dublin Comic Con 2026 is about to make you the coolest parent on the road. The annual celebration of all things pop culture, gaming and fandom returns to the Convention Centre Dublin on 8th and 9th August, and this year it’s shaping up to be bigger than ever.

Currys is back as the Official Gaming Partner for the second consecutive year, which means the gaming offering at this year’s event will be seriously impressive. Think interactive experiences, expert advice from people who actually know their stuff, and plenty of chances to win prizes throughout the weekend.

What to expect at the Currys stand

The Currys Arcade will give visitors the chance to get hands-on with the latest games and go head-to-head for Currys prizes. There will also be interactive gaming challenges running across the weekend, where attendees can test their skills for the chance to take home some exclusive goodies. Whether your child is a casual gamer or the type who narrates their own gameplay at full volume from the bedroom, there’ll be something to get stuck into.

Currys’ specialist gaming colleagues will be on hand throughout the event too, offering real, practical advice to help gamers of all levels find the right tech for their setup. No hard sell, just genuinely useful guidance — which, honestly, is exactly what you want when you’re trying to figure out what to actually buy your kid for Christmas.

The Gara Show returns

Currys’ Gaming Ambassador Chris O’Gara, better known as The Gara Show, will also be back at Dublin Comic Con this year. He’ll be hosting live sessions throughout the weekend alongside fellow creators and special guests, with audience interaction, gaming chat and giveaways promised throughout. If your teenager is already a fan, prepare yourself for the very specific kind of excitement that involves them explaining who someone is for a solid twenty minutes.

Keith Daly, Country Manager at Currys Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Dublin Comic Con for a second year as Official Gaming Partner. Last year’s event was a fantastic opportunity to meet thousands of passionate gamers and fans, and we’re looking forward to bringing even more exciting experiences this year.”

Karl Walsh, Co-Founder of Dublin Comic Con from Comic Con Ireland, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Currys back for another year. Gaming continues to be a huge part of the Dublin Comic Con experience and having Currys return as our Official Gaming Partner means visitors can once again enjoy fantastic gaming activations, expert advice and plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout the weekend.”

Planning your visit

Dublin Comic Con takes place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August 2026 at the Convention Centre Dublin. It’s the kind of event that genuinely works for the whole family — even if you’ve never played a video game in your life, the cosplay alone is worth the trip. (Fully grown adults dressed as Scarlet Witch by the Liffey on a sunny August day is not something you see every weekend.)
