Teen Years

Daughter receives 18 letters from her mum, leaving her in tears

Turning 18, is one of the highest points for most teenagers.

It is at this age they are now finally recognised as an adult, and most fly the coup to head on to pastures new.

But before that happens, there is the all important matter of birthday gifts.

What do you give an 18-year-old which they don't already have, and something they will treasure forever?

One mum has just figured it out, and we genuinely can't believe we have never thought of this before.

When Ava Phillippe celebrated turning 18-years-old, her mum handed her a bunch of letters, stacked in a high pile, tied together in a pink ribbon.

The teen commented: "18 letters that made me cry (hard) today, courtesy of my lovely mother."

Ava's mum, Reese, wrote a letter to her daughter every year on her birthday, finally handing them over to her little girl on her 18th, and we can only imagine the emotion which filled her heart.

We sincerely wish our mums had thought of this – we cannot think of anything sweeter to receive on our birthday – a plan for the future.
