Currys Is Giving Three Irish Primary Schools €3,000 Worth of Tech

If you’ve ever muttered something under your breath about the state of your child’s school’s ancient laptops, this one’s for you. Currys is celebrating 30 years in Ireland this October and, rather than just throwing itself a party, the retailer is doing something genuinely useful — giving three primary schools across the country a €3,000 tech package each.

That’s €9,000 worth of new technology heading to Irish classrooms, and your child’s school could be one of the lucky three.

A proper birthday giveaway

Currys opened its very first Irish store at the Jervis Shopping Centre in Dublin back in October 1996. Thirty years is no small milestone, and to mark it the retailer is running a nationwide competition open to anyone in the Republic of Ireland with a connection to a primary school — parents, teachers, caretakers, the lot.

To enter, you nominate a school and give three reasons why it deserves a €3,000 Currys tech boost. That’s it. Three reasons. You’ve probably said three things about your child’s school before you’ve even finished your morning coffee, so this should be the easiest competition you enter all year.

Jaimie Cantwell, Head of Brand and Marketing at Currys Ireland, said: “Turning 30 is a brilliant milestone for Currys in Ireland and we wanted to celebrate it by doing something that could have a lasting impact in communities around the country. Technology has changed enormously since we opened our first Irish store in Jervis Shopping Centre back in 1996, and it has also become an increasingly important part of how children learn and explore the world around them.”

“We know there are fantastic primary schools doing incredible work in every corner of Ireland, so we want to hear what makes your local school special. Tell us why they deserve a tech boost and they could be one of three schools receiving €3,000 worth of new technology.”

What could €3,000 in tech actually mean for a school?

Think laptops, tablets, interactive classroom technology — the kind of kit that genuinely changes how children engage with learning. Any parent who has sat through a school fundraiser raffle hoping for something half-decent knows how stretched school budgets can be. A €3,000 windfall from Currys could go a long way towards making a real difference in a classroom.

How to nominate your school

The competition is open right now and runs until 26th October 2026. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Visit the Currys 30th birthday competition page and tell them three reasons why your school deserves to win.

  • You must be aged 18 or over and resident in the Republic of Ireland.

  • You need to have a connection to the school you’re nominating — as a parent, teacher, caretaker or other member of the school community.

  • Three winning schools will each receive €3,000 worth of Currys technology.

The competition is open nationwide, so whether you’re in Dublin, Donegal, Cork or Cavan, your local school is in with a chance. Terms and conditions apply.

If there was ever a moment to be the hero of the school WhatsApp group, this is probably it.
