Cork's kid-friendly Culture Night sounds like it's going to be great craic

Cork City Culture Night 2017 is a free city-wide event that will showcase the vast cultural spectrum that exists in this beautiful city.

With free events from 12 noon right up until 11pm, keeping the children entertained on the day will be no issue, thanks to the Kids' Culture Club of Cork.

Here's what's happening this Friday:

Noon: Kick off the day at City Hall Millennium Hall with inclusive music and brass band performances and demonstrations of assistive music-making technologies from noon.

4pm: If dance is your thing, then Millennium Hall will also have MAKING MOVES with Maeve Kelleher and Ally Futto at 4pm which is an exciting dance workshop with a splash of acrobatics! Ages 7+ can join in – no previous experience needed, booking advisable.

3.30pm, 5.15pm and 7pm: Pop in to the Big Screen at City Hall Concert hall, which is sure to thrill the whole family. At 3.30pm there will be a screening of The Eagle Huntress a beautiful 2014 film that follows a 13-year-old Mongolian girl as she trains to become the first female in 12 generations of her family to become an eagle hunter. Following this the Irish classic, War of the Buttons, which comes with a 12A rating, will be shown at 5.15pm and at 7pm a series of Irish language shorts will be played.

6.30pm: Rock and pop bands, rappers, traditional Irish music groups and brass bands will be playing in force at Millennium Hall from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

For children under five, the Glucksman at UCC Campus will play host to their Under the Sea art workshop from 3pm where the kids can create all types of sea creatures in the surrounds of the Glucksman Gallery Foyer.

Not only will there be something for every age and every taste, but if the family simply wants to soak up the Culture Night atmosphere around the city, North Main Street will be the perfect place for a family stroll, with street performances from Pitc’d Circus Arts Festival, musicians, storytellers and fantastic shop window installations.
