Cheese and potato bake
- 4 large potatoes
- 100ml milk or double cream
- 1 large onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 6 tbsp grated mature cheddar cheese
- Black pepper to taste
Method:
- Boil the potatoes in a medium-sized saucepan until well cooked.
- Mash with 50ml milk/cream and then add 4 tbsp. of cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Finely chop the onions and then fry in a tbsp. of oil until softened.
- Meanwhile, crush the garlic.
- Mix in the cooked onions and garlic with the mash and cheese mixture.
- Stir in the remaining milk/cream until well combined.
- Put the mash in a greased baking dish and then sprinkle with the rest of the cheese (optional)
- Bake for 20 mins at 190°C/fan180°C/gas 5.
