'All I do is worry': Woman's final request for her dog is so sweet

An animal shelter in St Louis is receiving tons of donations and applications after they posted a devastating letter a cancer patient penned about her beloved dog.

It was about a hound named Shell who was in need of a home after its owner passed away from cancer.

It was the owner's final request that her adored canine would be safe in a loving home.

Her letter read, "I am writing you cause I need you to take my dog, Shell…I've been fighting cancer for a few months and if you're reading this I lost my battle. I need for my baby girl to be taken care of in a home.''

"In these days all I do is worry about what's going to happen to her. I love this girl, she is my daughter."

The post was shared almost 2,000 times, and many people came forward to say that they had filled out applications to adopt Shell.

Just a few days later,  the Stray Rescue uploaded a Facebook post revealing that Shell has found a forever home.

They wrote, ''we have a happy ending to Shell’s tragic story. A wonderful lady saw the news segment and knew it was time for her to adopt after losing her Stray Rescue dog Trenton, in July. Wasting no time, she filled out an application and was here the very next morning.''

''The two of them hit it off and she knew it was definitely the right time. She says Shell is already running the house, and that they are inseparable. We are honoured to have fulfilled the final wish of her Mom, who is no longer with us. We promise she will be spoiled for the rest of her life.''

The post has gotten a huge reaction, with 3.7k likes, loads of comments and shares.

People are expressing their delight at the happy ending to Shell's story.

One wrote, ''oh what a happy ending to such a tragic and heartbreaking situation…. this dog’s first mom loved her so much that she took care of her getting a new home!!!''

While another said, ''a wonderful happy ending to such a tragic story. This story was such a touching one. We’re so glad to hear that Shell found a new forever home so quick.''

We hope Shell loves this new owner as much as her previous one clearly loved her.
