'A miracle': Man suffering from MS does the impossible for the first time in a decade

Ten years after suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS), Roy Palmer has had a successful stem cell transplant and as a result, he is a new man.

The 49-year-old, who hails from Gloucester, England, can now do what he thought would be impossible for him…he can walk and dance.

This was something that he just couldn't do every day for a decade, and he had to use a wheelchair to get around.

However, all this changed when last year he got a life-changing treatment called HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) that gave him back his ability to walk.

Roy, who heard of the treatment in a BBC program in 2016, said, ''two people on that program went into Sheffield Hospital in wheelchairs and they both came out walking.''

His wife explained that the treatment was potentially quite risky.

She said, ''they take the stem cells out of your body. They give you chemotherapy to kill the rest of your immune system.'

After Roy had the treatment, tee feeling in his left leg came back after two days.

He was overjoyed and said that it was ''a miracle.''

Now that feeling is back in both of his legs, he's making the most of it.

He said, ''I've been given a second chance at life and I started volunteering at my local police station.''

He continued, ''we went on holiday not so long ago to Turkey and I walked on the beach. Little things like that, people do not realize what it means to me."

This is fantastic news for Roy and it gives hope to other people living with MS.
