A call from an old friend saved this teen's life, and their story will break you

You know when people say 'what's meant for you won't pass you' and you take it on board for all of two seconds.

Normally they will tell you following some heartbreak, or when you're passed up on promotion or something just didn't go your way.

Whatever it was it wasn't meant for you, because otherwise it wouldn't have passed by you.

But how many people on this earth would actually believe that this sentiment is true?

We bet Kevin Walsh would agree, because fate stepped in during his greatest hour of need, and his story will leave you speechless.

Coming across a thread on Quora 'What is one moment in your life you thought could only happen in a movie?', Kevin instantly knew he couldn't pass by without revealing his adventure.

"Once upon a time I was 13 at a summer camp and the prettiest girl I'd ever seen walked right up to me and said 'black is a good colour on you'. No idea why."

"We chatted and became friends, exchanged AIM screen names (it was the time) and stayed in touch for a while."

But as happens through your teenage years, you lose touch with the people you don't often see, staying true to your close circle, but there was something about this girl.

"I can promise you that not a day went by that I didn't think about that girl. Even now I'm not sure I can say why – something about her just stayed with me," commented Kevin.

However, life took over and things built up for him.

His world was shattering around him, things he can now call 'dumb' but at the time were huge for a teen had encompassed him, allowing him to fall into a deep depression.

"I resolved to take my own life, wrote a note and went to where I planned to end things."

But his plan, thankfully, didn't go down the exact route he had mapped out.

"Somewhere between five and 10 seconds before I would have committed suicide, my phone rang. I checked the caller ID – I couldn't die not knowing."

"It was a number I didn't recognise, so I picked up and it was her."

The girl Kevin had formed a bond with at camp all those years ago, had called him during the most torturous time of his life completely out of the blue, she stayed, she listened, and she made him promise he would call her again the next day.

"At that point it had been a year since we had spoken, and at that moment she just had to call."

Kevin called her the next day, but it was the moments to come after he hung up the phone which changed his life forever, and for the better.

"That night I started writing the words which, ten years later, I'd propose with."

We're all going to hold our loved ones a little tighter tonight, because there's a very special reason we have them in our life.
