Cheese and potato bake

cheese and potatoe bakeIngredients:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 100ml milk or double cream
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 6 tbsp grated mature cheddar cheese
  • Black pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes in a medium-sized saucepan until well cooked.
  2. Mash with 50ml milk/cream and then add 4 tbsp. of cheese.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Finely chop the onions and then fry in a tbsp. of oil until softened.
  5. Meanwhile, crush the garlic.
  6. Mix in the cooked onions and garlic with the mash and cheese mixture.
  7. Stir in the remaining milk/cream until well combined.
  8. Put the mash in a greased baking dish and then sprinkle with the rest of the cheese (optional)
  9. Bake for 20 mins at 190°C/fan180°C/gas 5.
