7 magical ideas to guide Santa to the house
Kids can get very worried on Christmas Eve that Santa won’t be able to find their house bless them. This worry can intensify further if they have no chimney or if they’re spending Christmas away from home.
Well we set out to put their minds at rest with our creative and fun list of ideas to make sure the man in red arrives without any difficulties.
The best part is they can become much-loved traditions to carry out each year!
1. The special Santa key
Leave out a ‘secret’ Santa key so the man in red will be able to let himself in. This is especially great for kids without chimneys.
2. Magic dust
Why not make some ‘magic dust’ with the kids? All you need to do is mix some glitter with sugar! On Christmas Eve step outside with the little ones so they can sprinkle the magic dust that will call Santa’s sleigh to their doorstep.
3. ‘Santa Please Stop Here’ signs
Get the kids to make their own ‘Santa Please Stop Here’ signs to be pinned onto the window on Christmas Eve. They’ll love the grave responsibility of creating THE poster that will guide Santa to their house and they will be SO excited he’ll soon read it!
4. A special poem
Tell the kids they need a special poem to get Santa to the house this year. Ask them to write a short verse about why Santa should visit your house, making sure they include their address and a landmark close by! Before they go to bed get them to recite the poem at the fireplace.
5. Google’s Santa Tracker
Google’s Santa Tracker is a brilliantly entertaining resource for kids. Santa and the elves can be followed all through December – although we have a feeling the kids will be most interested in the 24th! The Tracker is a great way to reassure kids that Santa has the technology to visit every single house in the world.
6. Leave out something Santa can spot
Hang something large and red on the clothesline like a sheet or a towel and tell the little ones it’s to ensure Santa can see the house from the sky.
7. Talk to Santa!
