5 ways to feel good during pregnancy

pregnant readingPregnancy is an exciting time for most women, but there will be times when you will feel anything but beautiful. As you witness your waistline disappearing and your belly expanding, there’s no doubt you’ll soon begin to miss your pre-pregnancy self.

However, you shouldn’t let these pregnancy symptoms get you down. Instead, embrace the changes your body undergoes during pregnancy while you still have the chance. After all, they are happening for a good reason.

Exercise

Now that you’re carrying a bit of extra weight, exercise is probably the last thing on your mind. But, even a 15-minute stroll down the park can boost your energy. Regular exercise helps promote strength and endurance during pregnancy so that means you will be better prepared for the arrival of your baby. Ask your doctor for an exercise plan suitable for your body and stage of pregnancy.

Pamper yourself

Sometimes a trip to the spa is all you need to feel good during pregnancy. A foot massage or a manicure can instantly lift your spirits. If you’re on a tight budget, then you can make your own face mask using natural ingredients from your kitchen. Invite a few friends over and have a pampering session with the girls.

Eat healthy

Since the food you eat can affect your mood, make sure you watch your diet. Eat plenty of fruit and leafy greens as they contain nutrients needed for healthy skin, bones and eyes. You baby needs about 300 calories a day so make sure you get enough healthy fats in your diet as well. Don’t go crazy with the sweets. Treat yourself occasionally but don’t overdo it.

Spend time alone

With friends and family constantly checking up on you, it can become overwhelming. So it’s important that you give yourself some alone time. Tell your loved ones to give you a few hours alone so you can listen to some relaxing music or read your favorite book. The more you relax, the better it is for your growing baby.

Enjoy the perks

Pregnancy comes with a lot of perks. At some stage, you will experience that beautiful glow. Your hair and nails will also get longer and thicker. If your hair is naturally thick and you can’t handle the added thickness, go for a short cut. You may find it easier to manage while pregnant.
