Little girl wears her mum's wedding dress – and we're crying

In one of the most poignant stories we’ve ever come across, a mum organised a photoshoot of her four-year old wearing her wedding dress – even though she wouldn’t be around to see it.

Mum Amber Davis died last July from cervical cancer at just 27 years old, but months before she passed away she came up with the idea to photograph four-year old daughter Nora in the dress.

Photographer Heidi Spillane, also a good friend of Amber, promised the mum she would do the photoshoot after she died.

“She saw [the photoshoot] as a way for Nora to remember her mama once she passed away,” she says. “She wanted me to promise I would do it when she was gone.”

Heidi followed through on her promise and did the photoshoot with Nora, which was poignantly shot at Amber and her husband Derek’s wedding venue.

“Sweet Nora lost her beautiful mother Amber last year,” Heidi captioned the album on her Facebook page My Three Arrows. “Nora was so excited to put on mummy's fancy wedding dress and be photographed at her parent's wedding venue. I can remember the day Amber texted me a picture of a little girl in her mum's wedding dress and we started planning. Amber, photographing this session without you was never in the plan but we felt you there, smiling and so proud of your sweet girl.”

And according to Amber’s sister Adrienne, the photoshoot wasn’t a sad event, but a rather a celebration of Amber’s life.

We can’t help but well up at such beautiful, heartbreaking photos. No doubt this special little girl’s mummy is very proud of her brave spirit.
