Mum of baby girl found in toilet has been located

Police issued an urgent appeal this morning to find the mum of a newborn baby girl found in Southport amusement arcade toilet.

According to reports, the little girl was found inside the disabled toilets at Silcock’s Amusement Arcade and staff there have named the youngster April.

The discovery was made by staff at 19:00 on Thursday and the baby has since been cared for at Ormskirk Hospital where a 24 hour phone-line has been set up to allow the mum make contact.

Urging the mum to come forward, Detective Inspector Mike Dalton says: “Our primary concern is for the health of the girl’s mother. She is not in any trouble.”

Thankfully, the according to reports, the mother of little April has now been found.

While no details of the mother have been released, police say she is currently receiving medical treatment.

After tracing the mother to an address in the Merseyside area, Superintendent Claire Richards said: “I would like to thank the local community, the online community and the media for their assistance in this matter.”
