Buying a bath for your baby
Since baby baths come in different shapes and sizes, it can be hard to find the right one for your baby. Some have a special backrest and headrest to support your little one when your hands are free, while others come in a special curve shape. You can even find ones that change color when you add the water to it to let you know whether or not the water is too hot for your baby.
The good thing about using a baby bath is that most are portable and can be used in a bathroom or a sitting room. However, babies have a tendency to miraculously grow overnight, so that means a baby bath may only be used for a couple of weeks.
Since not all parents prefer using a bath support in an adult bath, here are the types of baths you can get for your little one.
Rest-on-rim baby baths
Because these baby baths are designed to fix firmly on top of an adult bath, it’s important to get the right measurements before you buy. Although they have a plughole at the bottom to allow water out into the main bat, a rest-on-rim bath can be more expensive than the standard baby baths.
Bucket baths
These types of baby baths allow your little one to sit up with the water to their shoulders. You can support them with one hand and use your free hand to wash your baby’s body. They are usually aimed at infants over six months old. Although bucket baths are portable, the limited space also means that your little one won’t have much room to play with rubber duckies.
Bath seats and bath supports
Bath supports are generally made of foam and look a bit like a reclining seat with a wire frame, while bath chairs are usually made of plastic. The good thing about these types of baths is that the fabric will ensure your little one has a comfortable bath time; however, one of these baths could mean some extra work on your part. The material and foam support needs to be cleaned thoroughly after each use.
The sit-up bath seats
These have pads at the bottom to hold them securely to your main bath. Some have a round shape, making it easier for you to wash your baby. These are generally aimed at babies over six months old if they can sit up. While you can ensure your little one is safely seated in the bath, it can also be quite awkward to wash your little one in one of these.
